NO SPEEDWAY BUT ‘CASES’ STILL PACK IN THE SUCCESS

Saturday November 14, 2020
Somerset Speedway’s main team sponsor Cases Ltd have still been able to salvage a major trophy success in 2020 despite the wipe-out of the domestic speedway season.

Will Burns, son of the company’s owner, Ian, sealed the 2020 Ginetta GT4 Supercup Championship today, Saturday 14th November, at Brands Hatch with a 26 point haul in the penultimate round of the series. Driving a car supplied by Rob Boston Racing, Will did all that was required of him on Saturday and immediately afterwards admitted “this is going to take some time to sink in. It feels surreal to finally be able to say I’m the Champion. A massive thank you to Rob Boston Racing. They’ve given me a fantastic car over the season and I’m delighted I could bring it home for everyone.”

Burns, a two-time series runners up, went into the final weekend as leader with the title tantalisingly close with five race victories behind him. Sealing his ninth rostrum finish of the season on Saturday, the Weston-Super-Mare based Cases-sponsored star secured the title with a round to spare holding a lead of 39 points in the Professional class.

In acknowledging the success of the son of her main sponsors, Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock said “This is fabulous news for Will and his family. I am so pleased for them all. Ian is a fantastic chap and he has missed his speedway this season I know, but Will has given him the success he, and all the Cases’ team richly deserves. Will had only just got involved with car racing when our sponsorship arrangement began with Cases and just as we have flourished by brandishing the name of Cases, so too has Will’s career, which has reached its pinnacle this weekend through this great result.”
