ON THIS DAY…JUNE 20th - TIGERS HIT FOR SIXTY PLUS

Saturday June 20, 2020
For the third time in the club's history, Somerset broke through the 60 point barrier when racing against a side from Glasgow. It was June 20th 2014 when Somerset provided twelve race winners on their way to a 62-30 victory at the Oak Tree Arena.

The Rebels total that night fell one short of their 63-29 triumph inflicted on the Tigers just over six years previous (June 13th), and achieved that impressive victory without the services of Pontus Aspgren, operating rider replacement for the Swede who had sustained a broken hand days before.

Of the six Rebels on show five of them registered double figure scores, Brady Kurtz leading the way with paid 15 (14+1) from his six rides. Charles Wright came within a point of that paid total with a score of 11+3 whilst Nick Morris bagged 11+2, Oliver Allen 11+1 (a score that might have been better had he been able to get off the start line in heat 11, his machine not having the will to do so. Todd Kurtz was paid for 12 points (10+2) leaving Paul Starke as the one rider to miss out on double digits, returning a score of paid 6.

Since that trouncing of the Tigers the 'Cases' Rebels have gone on to better that score on five subsequent occasions, including their record score of 72-20 which was inflicted on Rye House also in 2014.
