Rebels' star Nico Covatti was the sole contributor to Italy's Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations cause in Landshut, Germany on Saturday.

Finishing 7th in the first round of the 2019 competition, Italy mustered just 9 points all scored by Covatti, who was the sixth highest individual scorer, which left them one fewer than the other nation, Ukraine, that failed to have any hope of reaching the Russian finals in July.

The top two scoring nations - Sweden 26 and Poland 24 - progressed directly to the Togliatti finals where staging country Russia await.
The three other nations from the opening round then battled it out for the right to join those finalists. Slovenia who finished fifth with 19 points lost out in the first knockout race to similar scoring Czech Republic (19).
In the final race of the night, despite Czech Vaclav Milik producing an excellent winning ride, his side lost out to Germany, by virtue of the shared heat, which benefitted the hosts who, had completed the programmed heats with 20 point.

The final three countries will be determined next Saturday (11th May) when GB, Denmark, Australia, USA, France, Finland and Lativa meet at the National Stadium, Manchester
