FANS' FAVOURITE REBELS ROLL OF HONOUR

Sunday February 24, 2019
Work began on cutting out the field at the Oaktree Arena on this day in 2000 and now, as the Somerset Rebels prepare for their 20th season of racing, fans have the opportunity to vote for their Favourite riders over the years.

Over the course of the next ten weeks we will publish a list of the riders who have been signed by the Rebels and ridden at least more than ONE official fixture. The first 9 weeks will have two years' worth of riders and each supporter can vote for a rider from each year. The tenth week will just be for the 2018 season.

The rider casting the highest number of votes in a season will be eligible for inclusion in the very special REBELS ROLL OF HONOUR and will be recognised on a wall plate/plaque which will permanently be displayed in the club house towards the end of this Anniversary season.

In the event that a rider is voted the most popular in more than one season, team manager Garry May will have the casting vote in deciding which year that rider will represent, and the next popular rider will then qualify from the other year(s), provided that rider has not received another nomination, in which case the next highest rider will receive the vote and so on.

Votes can be submitted via the club's Facebook and Twitter accounts and also via email to pressoffice@somerset-speedway.com. Any fan wishing to include a testimonial as to why they voted for a particular rider are welcome to do so and such comments may well be published in race day programmes during this season.

Voting is now open for the seasons 2000 and 2001 - the Conference League years for the Rebels and will close at midnight on Saturday 2nd March 2019.
