Somerset and King’s Lynn will battle out the SGB Premiership Knockout Cup Final over two successive nights with the ‘Cases’ Somerset Rebels hosting the first leg at the Oaktree Arena on Wednesday 17th October (7.30pm).

The sides will then meet again 24 hours later, Thursday 18th, for the concluding leg at the Adrian Flux Arena, Norfolk, a prospect that co-promoter Garry May is most enthused about. “I really didn’t want to have to wait too long between the legs and when King’s Lynn offered us the Thursday I was delighted to accept. I am sure that it will help generate the ‘cup-fever’ and whilst it would have been nice to stage the concluding leg I can see the benefit of having the meetings back-to-back. It means we will just have to weigh-in with a performance like we put up last time the Stars visited our place, so that we can have a healthy advantage to take with us.”

May was referring to the fact that the Rebels recorded a 61-29 victory earlier this month against the side that are considered to be the in-form team at present. Previously, King’s Lynn drew at the Oaktree Arena in June, whilst the Rebels have already won once in Norfolk this season and were only beaten by 8 points on their second visit.

It is still feasible that the cup-final could be a re-run of the SGB Premiership Play-off final as both sides hold first leg advantages going into their respective semi-final deciders on Monday night. Lynn won at Belle Vue last Monday by 49-41 whilst the Rebels take the short trip to Poole holding a slender two point lead.

Rebels’ season ticket holders are advised that their season ticket will be valid for the meeting on 17th October.
