The organisers of the Somerset Speedway fund-raising wing, SREF, would like to acknowledge the fantastic generosity of one of their loyal supporters who donated the sum of £170 to the fund at Monday night's play-off meeting against Poole.

Di, Roy and Anita who all do excellent work on raising funds for the riders were taken aback when Mr Innes Blair handed over a cheque for £170 on the night that he was celebrating his 70th anniversary of being a speedway supporter,

Originally taken to speedway as birthday present just days before his 11th birthday Mr Blair was 'bitten by the bug' and has followed the sport ardently ever since. Speaking of the gesture, Di Phillips said "It was a very generous donation indeed and on behalf of the committee I would like to go on record in expressing our sincere thanks to Mr Blair.

Mr Blair will be celebrating his 71st birthday on Thursday an undoubtedly would welcome an early birthday present of a result at Belle Vue on Wednesday which would confirm the Rebels place in the Knockout Cup final.

On behalf of everyone associated with Somerset Rebels we wish him a very happy Birthday and many happy returns.
