THE 'CASES' Somerset Rebels are gearing up for the maiden top flight play-off meeting on Monday night when they entertain neighbours Poole in the first leg of the semi-finals

The fixture comes hot on the heels of the Rebels excellent performance in the same stage of the Premiership Knockout Cup, where they built a fourteen point first leg lead last Wednesday, but team manager Garry May is insistent that they must 'park' that result now and his focus totally on the Pirates' visit.

"We were solid throughout on Wednesday and showed we had the cover for Doyley after he was forced to withdraw at heat 10" said May "and I will be looking for that same level of determination and performance on Monday against Poole, which has to be our sole focus now. We are two evenly matched sides in my opinion and the fact that we probably just hold the upper hand in terms of aggregate scores across the six meetings we have ridden against them this season counts for very little. We start at nil-nil on Monday and will only be able to judge our success after the thirty heats of this play-off semi-final. They [Poole] have a proud record in the play-offs as a club and whilst I have some experience of play-off management with the Rebels and Bournemouth in the respective lower divisions, this will be my debut in top flight and nothing would make me prouder than going all the way through. I reckon the lads we have could make that possible"
