WORLD CHAMPION JASON DOYLE took a step closer to Rebels legendary status on Monday when he moved into second place in the table of Somerset points scorers.

Doyle's 9 point haul at Rye House took his race points tally to 1,514, overtaking Magnus Zetterstrom's 1,512. The reigning world champion now stands 279 points off the top spot, held by Glenn Cunningham (1,793).

Whilst Zetterstrom slips down a place in the points scoring stakes, his 1,514 points were achieved from 610 rides whereas Doyle required 627 to equal the Swede and Zetterstrom can still boast the fact that he remains the leading race winner of all-time for the Rebels for the time being. His 398 victories are currently 29 more than Doyle's tally to-date
